Who we are

This website is run by B W Kitchens Ltd. We supply and fit kitchens, wardrobes and media walls across Worthing and the surrounding areas of Sussex.

When you contact us or use this website, B W Kitchens Ltd is the data controller for the information you give us. That means we are responsible for deciding how it is used and for keeping it safe.

What we collect

When you fill in our quote form or contact us

• Your name

• Your phone number

• Your email address

• Your postcode or town

• Details of the work you are asking about, and anything else you choose to tell us

When you become a customer

• Your address, so we can carry out the work

• Measurements, plans, photographs and notes about your property and the job

• Details of the materials and appliances ordered for you

• Payment records and invoices

When you visit this website

• Your IP address, browser type and device

• Which pages you looked at and how long you spent on them

• How you arrived at the site, for example from Google or from a link

We do not collect this website information by name. It is used to see how the site is performing, not to identify you.

Why we use it, and our legal basis for doing so

Under UK data protection law we have to have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are set out below.

To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote. 

You asked us to get in touch, so our basis is the steps taken at your request before entering a contract.

To carry out the work, order materials and arrange visits. 

Our basis is performance of a contract.

To keep invoices and accounting records. 

Our basis is a legal obligation, because HMRC requires it.

To keep records of completed jobs, including photographs. This lets us deal with any question or claim about the work later on. Our basis is our legitimate interests.

To measure how the website is used. 

This shows us what is working and what is not. Our basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner.

To send you marketing emails, if we ever do. 

Our basis is your consent.

You can withdraw consent at any time. That does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

Photographs of your home. 

We often photograph finished work. We will not use photographs of your property on our website, on social media or in any advertising without asking you first, and you can say no or change your mind later.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

We do share it with:

• Wix, who host this website and process the quote form. Wix stores the information on its servers on our behalf.

• Our bookkeeping for invoicing and tax records.

• Suppliers and manufacturers, where we need to give a delivery address or arrange an appliance installation for your job.

• Any specialist trade we bring in, where the job needs something outside what we do, and only the details they need to do that part of the work.

• HMRC, insurers, or a legal adviser, where the law requires it or where we need to deal with a claim.

Everyone we share your information with is required to keep it secure and to use it only for the purpose we gave it to them for.

Where your information is stored

Our website and the quote form are hosted by Wix, which stores data on servers outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not turn into work. 12 months from your last contact with us.

• Customer records, job notes and photographs. 6 years from the end of the job.

• Invoices and accounting records. 6 years from the end of the relevant tax year.

• Marketing contacts. Until you unsubscribe.

We keep customer records for six years because that is how long someone has to bring a claim about work under the Limitation Act 1980, and it matches what HMRC expects for accounting records.

Once the time is up, we delete the information or destroy the paper copies.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website puts on your device. This site uses:

Essential cookies. Set by Wix to make the site work. They keep the site secure, remember your cookie choices and stop the quote form being abused. The site cannot run without them, so they do not need your consent.

Analytics cookies. These tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and where they came from. [We use Google Analytics for this. / We use Wix Analytics for this.] These only load if you accept them.

Marketing cookies. Used to show our ads to people who have visited the site. These only load if you accept them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the information we hold about you

• Correct it if it is wrong or out of date

• Delete it, where we have no continuing reason to hold it

• Restrict what we do with it while a question about it is sorted out

• Send it to you or another company in a portable format

• Stop using it where we are relying on our legitimate interests

• Stop sending you marketing, at any time

To do any of these, email info@bwkitchensltd.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

We may ask you to confirm who you are before we hand over any information, so that we are not giving your details to somebody else.

Complaints

If you think we have handled your information badly, tell us first and we will try to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection.
